As we prepare for students to return to school, we encourage families to participate in the Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) option of our Chromebook and Device Policy.  Guidelines for purchasing a device can be found here. 

If you are unable to BYOD, we are offering Chromebook borrowing to students in Grades 6–12 for the upcoming school year.  Use this form to request a Chromebook from Melrose Public Schools by August 7th.  Devices are allocated based on need, prioritizing students who qualify for free or reduced-price lunch and other financial considerations.  The device that MPS distributes can be purchased for under $100.   For students in grades 6-12, devices will be distributed during the first week of school. 

Once students in grades 3-5 return to school in the fall, they will be assigned a device from the Chromebook cart in their classroom. As stated in the Chromebook and Device Policy, students will be responsible for taking care of the device and any damage that occurs. Families in these grades can join the Chromebook Protection plan for $30 each year. This will cover the first incident in a school year. Families who are interested in enrolling in the protection plan should complete this form. The option to enroll will end on October 1st.
