Dear Winthrop Elementary School Community,
I am so honored, grateful, and excited to be your new principal at the Winthrop Elementary School! I wanted to reach out to introduce myself and cannot wait to meet the students, their families, and all of the members of our school community. I have been settling into my office and the school building as I begin learning how everything works. In my conversations with people that I meet, they share a very strong sense of pride for the Winthrop and the Melrose Public Schools, and it brings me such joy to become a member of this amazing school community. Although I have been an educator for the last twenty-four years, I can tell you that preparing for a new school year and the opening of school still fills me with energy, anticipation, and excitement. I am looking forward to a school year of engaged and joyful learning while we all enjoy relationships of kindness and respect for all.
I will be sharing more specific information soon about having some opportunities this summer to come together for students and their families so we can meet one another. I will also be offering some drop-in times in August for parents and guardians to stop in and say hello. There is a lot of work going on here to prepare the classrooms and other spaces for your arrival on August 29th. In the interim I wish you all a fun-filled and exciting summer filled with laughter, great books, and many special moments with family and friends! I look forward to meeting you all very soon!
My best wishes and my sincere gratitude for entrusting your children to us at the Winthrop! Go Wildcats!
Michael Tracy, Principal, Winthrop School
