Letter From Donna re: Tuition Refunds

Letter From Donna re: Tuition Refunds
Dear Franklin Families and Guardians,
On behalf of the Franklin faculty and staff we hope this communication finds your family and you well in this extraordinary situation. It has been heartwarming to hear many sweet stories about your children during my daily check-ins with the Franklin faculty. We are glad to know how very much our Franklin students look forward to the Google Meetings with the Franklin faculty, staff and last but certainly not least school friends. We are all very much missing each other and were so hoping to be back together to enjoy and celebrate the final weeks of the school year. Although disappointed with the news last week that we would not be finishing out the year together we all understand the need for being socially distant and are committed to keeping our community safe. Together with the Franklin leadership team we have begun to explore options for putting together classroom memory books as a way to bring some positive closure to the school year for our students.
I also wanted to let you know that the Melrose Public School District Administrative leadership team recommended that families/guardians receive refunds for any Franklin tuition paid for March 13th at noon through the end of the 2019-2020 School Year. I am pleased to inform you that this evening the Melrose School Committee approved our recommendation. We will be processing the refunds in the coming weeks and families who had paid these funds can expect to receive the refund by the end of May.
We thank you all for your continued support of the work we do at the Franklin. From Ms. Melissa, Mr. Tommy, Nurse Robin and me to our teachers we can’t wait to be back together with our little ones and each of you. We miss the joy of learning something new everyday at the Franklin. We look forward to providing a safe, supportive, and enriching Melrose Public School experience for your child in the 2020-2021 school year. We will continue to share updates as we receive guidance from the state regarding school operations for the fall.
We also want to express our appreciation for your part in continuing to help your child navigate the world of remote learning. Our faculty and staff are putting in endless hours coordinating learning options to support you. We will be providing the Weekly Franklin Remote Learning Plans for Families through June 19th.  Please continue to connect with us and let us know how we can best support you in your remote learning efforts. Together we recognize how critical it is that educators and families collaboratively model for our children that we believe they are amazing learners and that everyday is a great day to learn something new whether we are at school or at home!
Take Care, Stay in Touch and Be Positive!
