Before & After School Wrap-Around Care

School-specific programming

The Melrose Public Schools is excited to share that we will now offer a one hour after school childcare option.  Thanks to the input of our community via the Later Start Task Force,  we recognize that our youngest students are dependent on childcare providers at the secondary campus.  Therefore, in order to provide those child care providers with ample time to safely and efficiently meet this obligation, as well as meet the needs of families who require extended care, the following two options are available.

All five elementary schools are adding “wrap around” services beginning Thursday, August 30th.  Wrap around will provide limited, supervised care from 2:10 p.m. - 3:10 p.m.   This option is separate to the longer, program based Education Stations.  In wrap around, students will bring a snack, can work on homework or may engage in games, coloring/drawing, reading, etc.  The fee for this program is $5.00 daily.

Students requiring a longer after school program can enroll in Education Stations  The Blue Line for Education Stations is from 2:10 to 4:30 and the Green Line is from 2:10 to 6:00.  Please note that the Melrose Public Schools has scheduled ten early release days.  If you require care from 12:30 p.m. on, you must register your child with Education Stations.  There is no wrap around care on early release days.

In addition to this, our before school ‘Early Bird’ program will be available.  Beginning August 30th supervised care will be offered from 7:05 a.m. - 8:03 a.m.  The fee for this program is $5.00 daily.  Both programs require registration and operate in a ‘pay as you go’ model.  That is, attendance will be taken daily by the supervising adults and families will be billed monthly.  Please register your child(ren) online here:  Elementary Early Bird and Wrap Around Registration Link.  As the Lincoln School is adding the ‘Early Bird’ program for the first time this year, Principal St. George will be sending information out directly to Lincoln School families with specifics.

If you have any questions about either option, please contact your child’s principal.
