Title I

Title I is a federally funded program that is part of the federal No Child Left Behind legislation. The amount of funding is based upon the number of students who qualify for free and reduced lunch. The major goal of the federal Title I program is to support schools with high numbers of children who are in poverty.

The Title I Program is also committed to insuring parent involvement in the schools. We hold three to four parent workshops during the school year and send home articles and resources to parents. Watch a video of our workshop on using praise with your children to build resiliency. Watch Presentation on Beyond Praise.

Melrose Public Schools primarily uses the funding to support a Title I tutor at the Lincoln and Roosevelt Schools.

For further information on the Melrose Public School’s Title I program, please contact Margaret Adams, Assistant Superintendent for Teaching and Learning.
