In light of the Melrose Public Schools closure (March 16-27) announced today, and the guidance issued by Mayor Brodeur and Superintendent Taymore, the School Committee is taking immediate steps to ensure that the Superintendent Search Process can continue in a safe and effective manner. The School Committee is implementing the following measures:
*The candidates' visits to the Melrose Public Schools next week have been adjusted and shortened. The School Committee's subsequent visits to the candidates' current home districts have been cancelled.
*The public meet-and-greets with parents and community members scheduled for Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday evenings from 5:00-6:30 pm in the Melrose High School Learning Commons will be livestreamed at https://www.youtube.com/user/melrosehightv and questions can be submitted during each forum at https://tinyurl.com/Melrosesuperintendent. Please understand that questions may be grouped, consolidated or abbreviated as time allows to accommodate as much participation as possible.
*Per Governor Baker's order, public access will be restricted. We urge members of the public to stay at home and participate via livestream.
*The School Committee interviews of each candidate, scheduled for Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday evenings at 7:00 pm will also be livestreamed at https://www.youtube.com/user/melrosehightv.
*In addition to the above livestream opportunities, the events will be rebroadcast on MMTV soon after each session.
*The School Committee has scheduled an additional meeting for Thursday, March 19 at 5:00 pm in the Council Chamber, which will be broadcast on MMTV.
*In light of Governor Baker's guidance on remote participation of public bodies, the School Committee reserves the right to implement additional remote participation procedures.
*Thank you for your cooperation and your patience as the School Committee responds to the rapidly evolving COVID-19 situation.
