MHS student Adonis Logan named Posse Scholar

MELROSE, MA — A Melrose High senior is one of 10 Massachusetts students to named a Posse Scholar. Adonis Logan, a community leader in Roxbury and a star student as part of Melrose's METCO program, will get a full scholarship as he pursues an environmental science major at Centre College in Kentucky.

At Melrose High, Logan is president of the Do The Right Thing Club, the school's only group that brings students together to discuss current events and social injustice issues. He's also been part of the Melrose Alliance Against Violence since his sophomore year, speaking against teen dating violence and alcohol abuse.

In Roxbury, Logan is an active member at the Boys & Girls Clubs of Boston: Yawkey Club of Roxbury. He is part of several community endeavors and mentors youth at the Boys & Girls Club, even attending national conferences to add to his skills and understanding.

Logan was nominated by METCO Director Doreen Ward last spring. He was told of his selection in December.
