The annual Melrose Veterans Memorial Middle School Winter Holiday Assembly will be held on Friday, December 23, 2011 in auditorium in the afternoon.  The MVMMS Faculty Not-Ready-for-Prime-Time Players will be performing along with various talented students.  One act will feature Clement Clarke Moore’s poem “Twas the Night before Christmas” written in 1822.  The cast will feature: Narrator, Mrs. Naomi Baline; Father in his Cap, Mr. Chris Rossi: Mother in her Cap, Mrs. Randi Murray; their Children: Jenny C., 7C; Michael D., 7C;  Zach L., 7C;  Samantha S., 7C; Bridget B., the Mice: Mrs. Sarah McLaughlin, Mrs. Katie Johnson, Ms. Laurie Pereira; Sugar Plum Fairies, Mrs. Kristen Loan, Mrs. Beth Colgan; Lead Sugar Plum Fairy: Mr. Jerry Greer; Santa (played by himself); Elves, The Student Elves from "The Hobbit"; Comet, Mrs. Julia Apostolos: Cupid; Mrs. Sharon Iagulli; Donner, Mrs. Traci Beane; Vixen, Mrs. Dana Fowler; Dasher, Mrs. Amy Dylengoski; Dancer: Mr. Jerry Gill; Prancer, Mrs. Eileene Sturgiou; Vixen2, Mr. David Stanton; and Rudolph, Mrs. Susan Corbett. 

A second play will be a presentation of “Little Women” based on the book written by Louisa May Alcott in 1868.  The story follows the lives and tribulations of fours sisters growing up during the American Civil War. The story is based the childhood experiences Alcott shared with her real life sisters, Anna, May and Elizabeth. The novel stars Jo, Meg, Beth and Amy and explores the rich nuances of family and family relationships.  The cast of Little Women includes: Jo March, Ms. Kristen MacDonald; Meg March, Ms. Jackie Rodas; Beth March, Ms. Leah Gunner; Amy March, Ms. Kerin McAuliffe; Theodore Laurence (aka "Laurie"), Mr. John Muldoon; Mr. Laurence, Mr. John Bruno; John Brooke, Mr. Gerard Tannetta; Marmee March, Mrs. Beth Colgan; Hannah, Mrs. Dana Fowler; Sallie Gardiner, Mrs. Randi Murray, and Frank Vaughn, Jerry Greer.

Other performances will include the Melrose Veterans Memorial Middle School Step Dance Team with Daria R., 8C; Siobhan N., 8C; Alexandia T., 8C; Makayla B., 8C; Rosemary F., 8B; Michaela S., 8B; Bria R., 8B; Naomi N., 8B; and Melissa B., 8C; a special authentic student adaptation of the "The Nutcracker Ballet" with Cameron H., 8B; Julian Nyland 8B; Sean C., 8B; Cameron Z., 8B; Conor W., 8B; Tim B., 8A; Kaleigh M; Amanda C; Mackenzie M; Caitlyn C; Emma W., 8C; and Maya T., 8B; and selected holiday music and sing-a-longs.  For more information, contact Mr. Bueno at bbueno@melrose.mec.edu.  We wish everyone a safe and wonderful winter vacation!
