There will be a special "Press Conference: Engery Initiatives in Melrose" to celebrate the installation of the 170 new solar panels on the roof of Melrose Veterans Memorial Middle School in the cafeteria at 9:00 a.m. on Friday, October 31, 2008.  Pictures of the 170 new solar panels that are on the roof will be presented on the large screen in the cafeteria.  The speakers will include: Mayor Robert J. Dolan, Thomas L. Brow, Jr., Principal; Shannon L., 8C, Sarah R., 8C, Katelyn P., 8C (singers); Denise Gaffey, Office of Planning and Community Development; David Shakespeare, Melrose Energy Commission; Jack Welch, Melrose Energy Commission; Greg Aloi, Project Manager - Melrose Energy Commission; Bob Beshara, Melrose Department of Public Works; and a representative from the Massachusetts Technology Collaborative.  For more details contact Denise Gaffey, Office of Planning and Community Development, at dgaffey@cityofmelrose.org.  Parents are welcome to attend.
