The following twenty-two Melrose Veterans Memorial Middle School eighth-grade students in Mrs. McLaughlin’s Exploratory Science Toys with Physics class will be participating on a walking field trip to the Horace Mann Elementary School in Melrose during their regularly scheduled class on January 19, 2012 to discover how physics relates to playground equipment: Said B., Drew B., Kevin B., Jennifer C., Marissa C., Anthony C., Ryan H.., Stephen H., Michelle H., Colleen H., Hannah M., Kyleigh M., Kylie P., Tara P., Zachary P., Charles P., Aislynn R., Aevary S., Olivia S., Isaac S., Diana S., and Alec T.  The students have been investigating science and engineering/technology by using toys.  Toys and playground equipment are made for play, but reflect different forms of science and engineering.  Students will use critical thinking skills, careful observations, and measurements to conduct their experiments.  For more information, contact Mrs. McLaughlin, Team 8A science teacher, at smclaughlin@melrose.mec.edu.
