MVMMS Holocaust Survivor Assembly Mrs. Jane Applefield, a child survivor of the Holocaust, and Mrs. Debbie Milley will be the guest speakers at an eighth grade world history assembly at Melrose Veterans Memorial Middle School on January 6, 2012 from 12:30 p.m. – 2:00 p.m. Mrs. Applefield will share her experiences during the Holocaust; her family made the difficult decision to give her away shortly after the German invasion in an effort to protect her from Nazi persecution. The students will compare and contrast the first-hand account with information they are gleaning from a book they are reading in their English class titled "The Diary of Anne Frank." A special thank you to Mrs. Applefield, Mrs. Milley, and Ms. Walsh, Team 8C world history teacher, for coordinating the assembly. For more information, contact Ms. Walsh at mwalsh@melrose.mec.edu.
