Two Melrose Veterans Memorial Middle School students will be participating in the National History Bee Middle School Regional Finals on Friday, January 27, 2012 at the Pioneer Charter School, 52 Summer Street, in Everett beginning at 5:00 p.m. Michael P., 8A, and Aidan S., 8B are the two top winners respectively in the First Annual MVMMS History Bee held in December 2011. Michael and Gerard will be competing against school finalists from other middle school in Massachusetts, Maine, New Hampshire and Vermont. The winner of the Regional Middle School History Bee will compete later this spring in the National History Bee.
Melrose Veterans Memorial Middle School is one of the first intrepid middle schools in our region to take part in National History Bee competition. Congratulations on to Michael and Gerard for success in the Intramural Bee and Online Regional Qualifying Exam. The National History Bee Championships will air on the History Channel this spring. And with a less than 1 in 10 chance for the participating students and for your schools at winning the competition, you are looking at pretty terrific odds. For more information, contact Mr. Coughlin, Melrose History Department Head (6-12), at rcoughlin@melrose.mec.edu. Go luck to Michael and Gerard at the Regional History Bee Finals!
