MVMMS Drug and Alcohol Prevention Summit Tuesday-Friday, May 26-29, 2009
The Seventh Annual Eighth Grade Melrose Veterans Memorial Middle School Drug and Alcohol Prevention Summit will be held in the auditorium, cafeteria, project rooms, and/or gymnasium on Tuesday-Friday, May 26-29, 2009. The objectives of the Summit are as follows: 1) To have an open and honest dialogue about the harmful effects of drug and alcohol use. 2) To hear stories of people impacted by drug and alcohol. 3) To highlight the importance of the following five personal qualities stressed at Melrose Veterans Memorial Middle School: honesty, responsibility, self-management, sociability, and self-esteem. There will be eighteen assemblies and/or activities including a three-screen multi-media presentation, a song writer, first-hand accounts of the negative impact of drugs and alcohol, testimonies, doctors, nurses, a community coalition, a professional play, police officer, movie, a professional wrestler, fathers, mothers, substance abuse counselor, a sheriff, a reflective essay, and more.
