Melrose Veterans Memorial Middle School students are cast members in special student matinee performances of the Beauty and the Beast at the Stoneham Theatre on Thursday, February 2, 2012 and Tuesday, February 7, 2012.  The MVMMS students are: Maria T., 7C; Madeleine C., 8C; Natalie B., 8B; and Anastasia K., 7A.  The special performance follows the classic story of a young woman, Belle, who dreams for something outside of her small town life.  But when an unfortunate encounter whisks her away to the castle of a grizzled Beast, she is forced to turn her energy towards the characters who surround her, and see their true beauty within.  This Broadway hit features all the beloved songs from the animated film; what a great chance for the entire family to sing-a-long!“  The Stoneham Theatre is a professional regional theatre.  Now in its eleventh year, the Young Company is committed to creating a peer-to-peer learning experience making theatre accessible to young audiences.  Through the creation of inspiring live theatre, the Young Company develops confidence, self-discipline, and collaboration to prepare young actors for future success.  Students in the Young Company participate in workshops, rehearsals, and performances designed to develop important skills like teamwork and self-confidence.”  For more information contact Ms. Caitlin Lowans at education@stonehamtheatre.org.  Good luck to Maria, Madeleine, Natalie, and Anastasia!
