All Melrose Veterans Memorial Middle School students are invited to sign-up for the Middle School Band Gig. This after school activity is open to all sixth, seventh, and eighth grade. The Band Gig Program teaches you how to be a part of a band. Geared toward teens (Grades 6-8) that already have one thing in common; they love music and want to play in a band. Each group is made up of 4-6 students based on grade, music style preference, and ability. We start with forming a band. The group chooses a name for the band and what songs they are going to play. Original music is always enthusiastically encouraged. Then we record a demo and give a live performance. So you see we really are a Band Gig! We take you from forming the band to playing the gig. It's all about having fun. Your experience will be more like a recording session rather than a rehearsal.
The tuition includes weekly band rehearsal/studio time, CD recording/demo of your band, and End of session live concert for charity. The instruments include: Guitar, Base Guitar, Keyboards, Drums, and Vocals. All interested participants must submit a registration form by to the Melrose Veterans Memorial Middle School Main Office by July1, 2010.
