The will be a special Melrose Veterans Memorial Middle School Band Gig Concert on Monday, June 15, 2009 at 1:15 p.m. in the auditorium.  Band Gig is an activity that was open to all sixth, seventh, and eighth grade students.  The Band Gig Program taught students how to be a part of a band.  Band Gig is geared toward teens (Grades 6-8) that already have one thing in common; they love music and want to play in a band.  Each group is made up of 4-6 students based on grade, music style preference, and ability.  The bands have been formed and they are ready to play to their first audience.  They have rehearsed and recorded their first songs.  The groups selected their band's name and what songs they are going to play.  Original music was enthusiastically encouraged.  Band Gig was funded, in part, by he Victoria McLaughlin Foundation & Ernie Boch's "Music Drives Us" Foundation.  The Bang Gig players and staff are looking forward to seeing you at the concert.  It's going to rock!
