Thanks to the generous gift on an anonymous donor, Melrose High School is slated to receive 75K to be matched by the city of Melrose. By request of the donor, these funds will be used to improve technology at Melrose High School. The Melrose High School Foreign Language Department was identified to receive this donation to build two wireless labs of 30 IPads each.
The new foreign language labs will double the capacity for students to have access to a more in-depth language experience. The wireless technology of the IPads will allow for increased flexibility and collaboration between students and teachers. Study carols and clunky desktops will be replaced with tablets that allow students to think and learn in a variety of settings. Teaching our students to use 21st century tools to solve problems and improve their foreign language skills underscores the importance of technology and communication outlined in our mission statement. This lab represents the first step toward converting MHS into a true 21st century learning environment impacting both teaching and learning.
