HELP WANTED

Seeking parents, caregivers, grandparents, and any other persons with a Horace Mann connection interested in a volunteer position. Time requirements vary depending upon the activity selected, however, there are many ways to volunteer that require very little of your time. There is a broad selection of activities.  Some may be completed at home or with smaller child(ren) in tow!  Absolutely no previous experience required!  Our school depends on volunteers to enrich the lives of the children at the
Horace Mann. 

We are also looking for someone who is interested in learning about all the Pumpkin Festival. Debbie Brooks would like to do just one more year of managing the Festival. This is a great opportunity for someone who would like to shadow her for one year and then take the lead on a project that is already very well organized. This could also be a two person team effort as well. Debbie has done an amazing job with this event and we are appreciative of all her hard work and her willingness stay on for one more year to mentor the next volunteer. The Bridge

If you want to volunteer, you need to be registered with The Bridge .

As you may be aware, the Melrose Public Schools have an organization known as the Bridge, which pairs volunteers in the system with volunteer opportunities. We are lucky at Horace Mann, because we have a dedicated coordinator, Melinda Stockwell, who focuses solely on Horace Mann volunteers and opportunities. Therefore, our volunteer system is very easy to navigate.

If you are a parent, grandparent, or simply a friend of our school, and like to work with children or other parents, there are volunteer opportunities at our school for you.  Let us know what interests you (PDF). 

Volunteering at Horace Mann is a great way for new parents to get to know other parents and get a glimpse of the great place your child spends his or her day at school. As you get the enjoyment of working with others, our school becomes a better place for our students.

BRIDGE VOLUNTEER REGISTRATION FORMS 2010-2011

Before you may volunteer in our schools you must be registered with the Bridge.

Below we have provided registration forms for "new volunteers", "previously registered volunteers" and a form for those who wish to be listed in the Human Resource Directory. Please choose and fill out the form that best describes your volunteer status and send to Emily Rubenstein at the Bridge via USPS or fax (781.979.2285), or drop it off at the Horace Mann office.

• Re-registration: Volunteers must register and sign a confidentiality statement yearly. CORI checks are
