Mini-Grant Application (PDF)

What is a Mini-Grant?
The Horace Mann PTO has developed a program offering Mini-Grants to teachers and staff to meet their needs for which funding is not available through regular school sources.

Mini-Grant monies may be used to purchase materials or supplies necessary for the enrichment of our students. Our intent is not to solely fund materials and supplies without a new, creative, innovative educational project or goal.

How Mini-Grants are Awarded
The Mini-Grant Review Committee of the Horace Mann School will review Mini-Grant proposals.  The committee is comprised of the Principal, PTO Board Treasurer and 2 PTO Board members, one member of the School Site Council and two volunteer parents.  The Mini-Grant Review Committee will evaluate your proposal.  Your proposal will be ranked according to the following guidelines:
• enriches the educational experience;
• has realistic goals; and,
• is cost effective.
Mini-grants are reviewed and awarded by the committee for items that cost up to $500. Proposals requesting items/programs, which cost more than $500, will be presented and voted on at a PTO meeting. The grant award process is designed to provide funds for new items or programs that are responsive to classroom needs and inspire the desire to know and learn. The PTO Treasurer makes awards directly to the applicant.

Who Is Eligible?
Any Horace Mann teacher, counselor, resource teacher, administrator, educational support staff or group of teachers is eligible to apply.

How to Prepare Your Proposal

The following guidelines must be met in order to grant your request.

Ownership of Materials
