Very exciting things are happening for the garden this year. First I would like to thank Nancy M. for pulling everything together for the hugely successful fundraiser from Whole Foods 5% Day. Whole Foods generously gave 5% of all sales last Tuesday to the HM garden. We found out on Friday that we will receive $3,550! Jim D. and I will be at tonights PTO Meeting to announce.
A Garden Committee Meeting will be held on Wednesday, April 4, 7:00pm at Panera off of Lynn Fells (across from Target).
We will discuss the following: -How money should be spent: shed, table, white board, tools, classroom materials -Need for Communication Leader: Someone to take charge of web site, blog and overall communication between garden, school and community -Spring planting and plans for 6 raised beds with "theme" plantings: ABC Garden, Pizza, Salad, Native American, Butterfly and Sports Garden -Lesson plans and schedules for each grade level
Jim D. and I met with Mrs. Florino's Kindergarten class last Thursday to introduce the garden and their ABC Garden theme. Please see attached doc. that was sent home to parents. We will be going to Mrs. Well's class tomorrow to do the same lesson.
Reminder: The next Garden Club Meeting is this Wednesday, March 21st. The weather is looking good, so we will hold it in the garden.
Any suggestions and/or ideas you have are always welcome. Please let me know if you are able to come to the Committee meeting on the 28th.
Pictures and garden updates can be seen on the Garden Club Bulletin Board inside the school doors near office. Check it out!
