The Early Bird program is a childcare program offered 5 days a week from 7:15 am until the start of school.  Childcare is provided by Horace Mann Faculty.
 
• Registration is necessary for your child to attend, whether on a regular or drop-in basis. Download Registration Form (PDF).

• The Early Bird program is available to parents at the Horace Mann School and is offered from 7:15 am until the start of school.
 
• Students in grades 2-5 do not need to be accompanied by an adult, but they will need to sign themselves in every day. The first time a family uses the Early Bird program, the child MUST be accompanied by an adult to the classroom.

• The only entrance into the program will be through the main door. Follow signs to the room Early Bird will be in (please refer to the schedule below). Any changes in the schedule will be posted.

• The cost is $3.000 per child per visit. Each family will be billed once a month on the 30th and payment is due on the 15th by check only, made out to Melrose Public Schools.  Checks should be sent to school in an envelope marked Early Bird Program.

• No call is required if your child is not going to attend, and you will not be billed for any days you do not use.  If you know in advance that your child's regular attendance will change, please notify the director.
  
• The program will NOT be held on snow days or when school is delayed due to inclement weather.
 
• No food or drink will be provided, but children may bring their own nut free/sesame seed free breakfast.
 
• Students in Early Bird are required to follow rules according to Elementary Handbook.

Some things to remember:

- Early Bird does not run on snow days or during delayed openings
- K-2 Students should be accompanied by an adult when arriving to Early Bird
- Please arrive no earlier than 7:15, for there is no supervision available
- Behavior expectations are the same as the regular school day, please refer to your Elementary Handbook
