We Always Need You! Want to make a difference?
Lunchroom
The lunchroom is always looking for volunteers to monitor and assist the children.
11:30-12:00 (3rd, 4th & 5th grades)
12:00-12:30 (K, 1st, & 2nd grades)
All volunteers are welcome, and must be cleared through the Bridge. If your schedule doesn't permit volunteering every week, every other week is fine too! Contact Penny DeMayo (pjdemayo@comcast.net).
Regarding Art
For the seventh year at Hoover, Regarding Art will be coming to the third and fourth grade classrooms beginning in October and continuing through April and to the second and fifth grade classrooms in the spring. Regarding Art is a non-academic art awareness program whose primary goal is to interest young children in fine arts and to encourage children to closely observe and critique fine art. It is designed to be student participatory in nature, rather than lecture based. Monthly classroom sessions are conducted by parent volunteers. The Hoover Regarding Art program, like many valuable programs at our schools, has been initiated and run completely by parent volunteers. No art background is required, only your enthusiasm. You may sign on for as little as 1½ hours in the classroom one time only, or as much as 1½ hours in the classroom twice a month for six months. It's up to you. If this intrigues you, please contact Annie Shippee, Regarding Art coordinator (662-5926) or e-mail Shippee1@comcast.net to find out more.
Library
It's still not too late to be a library volunteer! Volunteers are always needed to read to classes and/or check books in and out, as well as shelving books and straightening up. Contact one of the library co-coordinators, Karen Fogarty or Sandy Nagle if you'd like to help. We will also need volunteers to help the children make their selections for the Book Fair. Watch backpacks for information on signing up. If you have any questions, contact our Book Fair coordinator, Kathleen Gapp.
