Has your child been a good, helpful citizen, and made his or her parents proud?  We’re looking to congratulate “Hoover Good Citizens” in our Hooray column.  Little kindnesses (such as helping an elderly neighbor bring in her garbage cans,  donating old books to a community in need, or bringing homework to a sick classmate) are what make the world go ‘round.  By highlighting acts of community service every month, we can help our children understand that their actions, large and small, can make a difference in someone’s life.  So in addition to your child’s academic or extracurricular achievements, please send in a description of your child’s good deeds to Hoover Highlights, and we’ll give them a Hoover Hooray!

Bridget McDonnell, 2nd grader in Mrs. Feeley's class, recently competed in the New England Regional Oireachtas in Stamford, Connecticut.  The Oireachtas (pronounced "o-rach-tas") is the premiere championship event for the best Irish dancers of New England.  It serves as the regional qualifying event for both the North American Irish Dance Championships and the World Irish Dancing Championships, held in Ireland.  Bridget placed 35th out of over 100 girls competing in her solo traditional set.  Competing with her three teammates in the Girls 4-hand dance, Bridget and her team placed 11th out of more than 30 teams.  Great job Bridge!

Third grader Saoirse Connolly, fourth grader Kyle Norris and fifth grader Kellianne Kendalls are players on the Squirt III Hockey team that recently won the 2008 Tewksbury Christmas Tournament.  They finished with a 4-0 record.  Connolly, #3, finished with 4 goals and 6 assists.  Kendally, #19, had 3 goals and 8 assists.  Norris, #1, was the goalie and only allowed 2 goals in 4 games!
