•    Feed a Melrose Family in Need—Donate to A Servant's Heart Food Pantry

Hoover School is once again conducting a food drive to benefit A Servant’s Heart Food Pantry (serving 185 families from Melrose and surrounding towns).  Here’s how to help:  1) bring in nonperishable food items; 2) take advantage of “buy one, get one free” offers and donate the free item;  and 3) donate supermarket cards which will be matched by the Hoover PTO for up to $200.00.  Collection boxes for food will be in the lobby, and an envelope to collect grocery store gift cards is on the bulletin board by the main office.  Questions, call Karen Andrews (665-3977).

The pantry is particularly in need of the following items:  beef stew, hot cereal, spaghetti sauce, shampoo, jelly, juice, Kleenex, peanut butter, lunch box items, and toilet paper.

•    Clean Out Your Closets and Help Keep Someone Warm This Winter!

The Hoover School will be collecting coats again this year for Anton's Cleaners’ annual “Coats for Kids” program. Donated coats are dry-cleaned by Anton's free of charge then distributed to organizations who donate them to families in need.

Please go through your closets and bring in any adult or child-size winter coat that is in good shape (no rips, missing buttons, broken zippers or permanent stains) and drop it off in the big box in the front lobby. Each Friday the coats are taken to Anton's in Melrose.  Questions, please contact Cindy Casey (cmcpcasey3@verizon.net) or Renee Sousa (arsousa@comcast.net).

Have someone on your holiday list that has everything?

Do you want to give a meaningful gift this season that will impact the lives of families in the US and around the globe?

Check out the Heifer International Gift Catalog at www.Heifer.org/catalog or contact 1-800-698-2511 for a copy.
You can honor a person by giving the gift of an animal through Heifer. Your gift will help families dealing with poverty to move toward self-reliance through a sustainable resource and training. These families then pass on the gift to other families in need. Through your gift, you can help transform entire communities within the US and around the globe. Please consider Heifer this year as you look toward the holidays.
