Organized at Hoover

Each year the Hoover PTO organizes events to help the Melrose community.  For example: A grocery store gift card drive where donations were matched 100 percent up to $200 A clothing drive to collect warm coats for families in need Participating in the Trivia Bee to support Melrose Public School Volunteers Organizing meals for Hoover families experiencing unexpected difficulties What will the Hoover Community accomplish next year? Join PTO meetings to make suggestions.

Recycling Hoover has dropped off a total of 12,600 plastic bags to Shaws to be recycled rather than be dumped in a land fill.  That is an amazing contribution from the Hoover Community! Efforts continue until April 22 - Earth Day.  If you have any more bags between now and Earth please bring them to the drop-off box in the lobby.  Any questions, please contact coordinator Penny (Xifaras) Jones.   What can be recycled - Please be clean and dry: •     any bag marked with #2 or #4 •     plastic grocery bags •     plastic department store bags •     plastic bags that produce is stored in •     newspaper sleeves •     dry-cleaning bags •     toilet paper / paper towel over wrap •     water bottle case wrap •     stretch film (no household saran wrap) •     zip lock bags   Colors good to recycle: •     clear •     light or translucent yellow •     light or translucent orange •     light or translucent red   Colors not good to recycle: •     blue •     black •     green"
