We would like to start by thanking all of the caring Hoover families who generously donated grocery gift cards and food to A Servant’s Heart food pantry. The folks there were extremely grateful to the Hoover School for all of the donations. Together we made a difference this Thanksgiving in our community. Throughout the rest of the winter we will continue to collect canned goods and other nonperishable food items for the food pantry. Please continue to send in your donations to help our community members that are facing very difficult times in this gloomy economy.
On Friday, Dec. 12, and Monday, Dec 15, we will transform the All-Purpose Room into a much anticipated holiday store for the students to do their own holiday shopping. The children look forward to purchasing gift items for family and friends (limit 10 items per child). All items are selling for $1.50 and will be wrapped and sent home with your child on their shopping day. Thank you to all the volunteers for helping out at this event; we really appreciate your help and commitment to the children at Hoover school.
Please mark your calendars for Thursday, January 22, 2009 for the Hoover Winter Concert! Unlike in previous years, this year the concert will be held in the evening at the new Melrose Veterans Memorial Middle School . Light refreshments will be served. Plan on inviting your whole family—there will be plenty of seats for everyone.
Our first snack day, hosted by the 4th grade families, went off without a hitch. The children enjoyed going to the All-Purpose Room to pick a snack for later, and they are looking forward to next snack day in January. Details to follow.
Our coat drive is in its final weeks. We have collected numerous coats and will continue until Friday, Dec. 19, 2008. We hope that you enjoy your holidays and have a restful Winter Break!
