Preschool Program Preschool children are a perfect age to develop many skills considered precursors to learning. Social and emotional skills such as problem solving, turn taking, negotiating and cooperating are important fundamentals to future scholastic success. The Preschool Program at the Franklin Early Childhood Center offers an approach to learning that encourages students to construct learning experiences using age appropriate materials in an age appropriate environment. The Preschool Program offers two day and three day per week enrollment. Tuition rates are dependent upon enrollment options. All Preschool Programs meet from 9:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon. Any child who is three years of age by September 1st prior to their September start date is eligible to enroll. |

Important Dates: 2010 - 2011 School Year: Great Start Night: Wednesday, September 1st, 6:30 - 8:00. This is an adult only event when you can hear from the Director and Teachers regarding curriculum, classroom and general school information. "Sneak Peek": On Thursday, September 2nd from 9:00 - 11:00, you can bring your child to school to meet their teachers and see their classrooms. Teachers are busy getting ready for the 1st day of school so plan to keep your visit within the allotted time. First day of School for 2010 - 2011: The first day of School for ECC is Tuesday, September 7th. All paperwork must be returned (including immunization records) in order for your child to begin school. School Closing/Delayed Openings: If there is inclement weather that causes a delayed opening in Melrose, school will open two hours later than the usual start time. In that event there will be no Title I AM classes, no Preschool and no five day Pre-K classes (normally meeting from 9-12). However, Title I PM classes, Multi-Age and four day Pre-K classes will be held. The PM Title I class will start at the usual time. Multi-Age classes will start at 10:25 and four day Pre-K classes will start at 11:00. All will end at their regular times. If school is cancelled for inclement weather, information is communicated through our Connect-Ed system. It can also be found on the following Radio and TV stations: Radio: WBZ, WRKO, WCVB.
