General Information and Forms

  • Absences: please call the confidential absence line at 781-979-2115 if your child will be absent or late.  Include child's name, teacher and reason for absence.  If your child will be late please indicate lunch need.
  • Stay Home or Go To School?
    • Fever: Students must remain home with a fever of 100 or higher.  They may return to school when they are fever free for 24 hours without the use of fever reducing medication.
    • Vomiting/Diarrhea: Students must be free of vomiting and/or diarrhea for 24 hours before returning to school.  If the child vomits or has diarrhea during the night they cannot return to school that morning.

  • Medication Administration at School: if your child requires medication to be kept or administered at school please call the nurse immediately for school policy and required forms. (See link "Additional Information from the ECC Nurse" and Forms section below for complete information.)

  • The ECC is a totally peanut free/nut free learning environment!  Please do not send your child to school with any peanut/nut products.  (See link below "Additional Information from the ECC Nurse" for complete information)

Important Dates:

Monday, February 20 - Friday, February 24th:  School is closed for the February Break

Thursday, March 8th:  ECC has a half day.  Programs beginning at 8:25 will end at 11:25.  All other programs end at 12:00.  Stay and Play will be offered for registered families.

March 15:  Tuition Due

Friday, April 6th:  School closed for Good Friday observance.

Monday, April 16th - Friday, April 20th:  School is closed for the April break.

Monday, May 28th:  School closed in observance of Memorial Day.



School Closing/Delayed Openings:  If there is inclement weather that causes a delayed opening in Melrose, school will open two hours later than the usual start time.  In that event there will be no classes that normally meet from 9:00 - 12:00 (Preschool, five day Pre-K or 1/2 day multi-age).  All day Multi-Age and four day Pre-K classes will be held.  Multi-Age (8:25 - 2:10) classes will start at 10:25 and four day Pre-K classes will start at 11:00.  All will end at their regular times.  If school is canceled for inclement weather, information is communicated through our Connect-Ed system.  It can also be found on the following Radio and TV stations:  Radio:  WBZ, WRKO, WCVB.  TV:  4, 5, 7 and 25.  Updated information can be found on the Melrose Schools home page.
