2003-2004 MELROSE PUBLIC SCHOOLS VOLUNTEERS HONORED
AT THE 12TH ANNUAL VOLUNTEER LUNCHEON

The Bridge: A School/Community Partnership hosted the twelfth annual luncheon to honor the outstanding service provided by the people who volunteer in kindergarten through grade twelve in the Melrose Public Schools.

On June 16, 2004, one hundred and fifty of the 650 registered volunteers gathered in the narthax of the First Congregational Church where they enjoyed good food and the opportunity to visit with volunteers representing Melrose's five elementary schools, middle school and high school. The efforts of these volunteers, so important to the education provided the children of Melrose, was acknowledged by Coordinator of Volunteers, Emily Rubenstein, Mayor Robert Dolan, State Representative Michael Festa, Superintendent of Schools, Dr. Rosemary Leblanc-Considine and Assistant Superintendent of Schools, Dr. Jeanne Whitten.

As part of the festivities volunteers with 5 years of service to the Melrose Public Schools were each presented with a five-year pin.

Emily Rubenstein is surprised by Mayor Rob Dolan, Bridge Board President, Joan Cassidy and Volunteer, Janet Nevin with a proclamation making her an honorary citizen of Melrose because of the twelve years that she has worked as the Coordinator of Volunteers.
