2002-2003 MELROSE PUBLIC SCHOOLS VOLUNTEERS HONORED
AT THE 11TH ANNUAL VOLUNTEER LUNCHEON

On June 4, one hundred and fifty of the more than 500 Melrose Public School volunteers who
work in kindergarten through grade twelve enjoyed a luncheon sponsored by
The Bridge: A School/Community Partnership. Mayor Robert Dolan, State Senator Tom McGee, Superintendent of Schools Rosemary Leblanc-Considine, and Bridge Volunteer Coordinator Emily Rubenstein were at the luncheon to recognize the important work done by school volunteers.

Emily Rubenstein, Coordinator of Volunteers thanks those in attendance for the many tasks that they undertook during the school year. These generous people support and augment the education of students in kindergarten through grade twelve and truly make a difference in the lives of thousands of children in our school system.   Mayor Dolan addressed the volunteers about fiscal problems facing the city and schools. He stressed the need for volunteers to help in these difficult financial times. Dr. Leblanc-Considine expressed her appreciation of the volunteer dedication to the children of Melrose. She stressed the importance to staff and students of the time and talent that volunteers provide.

As part of the festivities volunteers with 5 years of service to Melrose Public Schools were each presented with a five-year pin.

This year we had 5 volunteers with ten years of service to the Melrose Public Schools.

Ten Year Volunteers Receive Citations

Emily Rubenstein presented each volunteer with a citation from the Massachusetts House of Representatives.
